Terms of use
Last updated 2026-10-29
TerraPuzzle is a free tool for turning real terrain into 3D-printable jigsaw puzzles and playing them in your browser. By using terrapuzzle.com you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
TerraPuzzle is operated by Capital Coders Inc. (“we”, “us”), which also runs TerraPrinter. These terms cover terrapuzzle.com and its subdomains.
Using TerraPuzzle
- You can use TerraPuzzle without an account and without paying.
- Puzzles are built in your own browser from public map and elevation data. Use them for free for personal, educational and non-profit purposes. Selling them, or other commercial use, needs a TerraPrinter commercial license, which covers TerraPuzzle too. The license page has the details.
- Please don't overload the service: no automated bulk requests, scraping, or attempts to get around limits, bans or security measures.
- Don't use TerraPuzzle to break the law or to harm, harass or track other people.
The puzzles you make
We don't claim ownership of the puzzles you make or the prints you sell. Under the TerraPuzzle license you may print, share and give them away for free, crediting “Made with TerraPuzzle (terrapuzzle.com)” when you share them. Selling them, or the files themselves, and other commercial use need a paid TerraPrinter commercial license.
Puzzles are made from third-party data, which has its own licences. When you publish or sell a puzzle, keep the data credits that come with it, at least “Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors” (the Open Database License) and the elevation source named in the download. The exact credits are written into each download and listed on the license page.
The TerraPuzzle name, logo, website and software stay © Capital Coders Inc.: please don't present your products as made or endorsed by TerraPuzzle.
Accuracy
Map data and elevations come from public sources and can be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Relief is exaggerated by the height boost you choose, and some other worlds use relief embossed from photos rather than measured heights. Puzzles are artistic representations, not survey-grade models. Don't rely on them for navigation, engineering, safety or legal purposes.
Shared puzzles, the gallery and leaderboards
- When you share a puzzle, we store it so the link works. Anyone with the link can play it, see where it is, and open it in the generator to print their own copy under the license.
- If you leave “Show it in the public gallery” on, you let us show the puzzle, its name and its picture in the gallery, in previews of its link and elsewhere on TerraPuzzle.
- Leaderboard entries show the initials you type, your time and score. Only use initials you're happy to show publicly.
- Don't give puzzles names that are illegal, hateful, sexual, or that reveal someone else's private information. Don't share puzzles made to track or expose where a private person lives.
- We may hide or remove shared puzzles, leaderboard entries and reports that break these terms, or that people report. A puzzle reported by several people is hidden from the gallery until we review it.
Commercial licenses
Commercial licenses are sold, billed and managed on terraprinter.com under the TerraPrinter terms of use. A valid TerraPrinter commercial license covers the puzzles you make on TerraPuzzle, within its plan's yearly sales limit, counting sales from both sites together. Anyone can confirm a license at terraprinter.com/license/check/.
No warranty
TerraPuzzle is provided free, “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. We don't promise that it will always be available, error-free, that pieces will fit on your printer, or that a puzzle will print successfully. We may change, limit or stop any feature at any time, and we don't promise to keep shared puzzles or leaderboard entries forever.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Capital Coders Inc. is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for lost profits, data, filament, printer time or damage to equipment, arising from your use of TerraPuzzle or the puzzles you make. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be waived.
Children
Puzzles printed with small pieces can be a choking hazard. If you give a printed puzzle to a young child, choose large pieces and supervise play. If you sell printed puzzles, you're responsible for meeting the toy safety rules where you sell.
Privacy
How we handle personal information is described in the privacy policy.
Changes
We may update these terms. We'll post the new version here and change the date at the top; continuing to use TerraPuzzle after that means you accept the update.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
